Travel has always been a passion.

When I was younger we went on a lot of road trips around Canada and the USA which I credit to sparking the fire in me to explore.

After taking tourism classes in high school and suppressing the urge to take flight, I finally bit the bullet and went to school for Hospitality and Tourism Business Management hoping (like everyone) that I would either make enough money to travel comfortably or land a job that would let me travel.

And like 95% of everyone in the class, neither happened so I went out there to make it happen on my own terms.

After landing a job in a hotel, I moved on shortly after to the fast pace world of selling luxury travel. Here I cut my teeth, learned a lot, and then moved into teaching.

I was always told that the best way to make sure you are an expert/understand in something is to teach it to another person. While this is true, the one downside with teaching in your field is can make you need to take part in it. How else can you keep up with the industry trends especially since travel changes extremely fast and at the drop of a hat.

Since not everyone can afford school nor do they need to take it, I thought about how I could bring my information / experience out to the masses and that is when Female Abroad started. My desire to share my learnings, teachings, experiences, and stories got the better of me and what started as a blog has turned into a full blown website.

I'm glad that you are here to enjoy this experience with me and I hope that you find it not only useful but amusing as well as something you will keep coming back to check up on.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of world discovery ad hopefully you'll learn something along the way.
